Cofields Lauded As Entrepreneurs

Ellis and Beneta Cofield of Cofield’s Locksmith LLC have been awarded the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award by Inside Business. They are one of 16 businesses located throughout Hampton Roads honored for their ingenuity, perseverance and positive impact on the community.

James Strozier of Highground Services Inc. nominated the Cofields.

The ceremony took place on June 27 at The Founders Inn in Virginia Beach.

“The judging criteria is based on entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinking, emphasis on innovation, business performance, community impact and personal integrity and influence,” said Ron Crow of Inside Business.

Ellis Cofield Jr. said about the honor, “It means a level of accomplishment and that people recognize what you are doing. We’re not looking for recognition; we’re just keeping things together.”

He reiterated, “It is nice to see that people recognize what you are doing and reward you for your hard work and that other people see the good things you are doing. It’s great to be a part of a small community and see the difference you are making.

Cofield added that he wanted to give “A big shout-out and thanks to Jim Cofield, and seeking something in me to make the recommendation.”

Last, but not least, “Thanks to my wife for being by my side for the past 29 years and her support.”

The couple has one son, Ellis Cofield III.
